Marshall-Wells Stores, Rainier Hardware Co.


The Marshell-Wells/Rainier Hardware Co. was owned by Fred J. Tucker. On July 1, 1947, after 35 years, Tucker sold his business to his nephews, Joe and Bernard Oliva. The one-story Tucker Building had been built by Phillbrick & Nickelson of Tacoma, Washington.
  

Photo at left is the same store front shown in the Marshall-Wells image above taken on January 31, 2020 by Mike Clark. "A" street in 2019 and 2020 was going through a major upgrade with a new railroad track alignment, shifting the roadways away from track islands and replacing sidewalks that were narrower. The store at the time of the photo was empty, it had been recently occupied by Glaze Gifts & Giggles (see below). Photo at right is a view from above where Marshall-Wells was once located at address 113B E A St. (from google maps February 2020).
