Les Ingold's Chevron Station
Southwest corner of Old US Hwy 30 and Washington Way (Old bridge road).

This photo (looking northwest) (*) was taken sometime in the 1930s when it was a Mobil Gas station. It later became a General Petroleum station and then a Chevron station. Though it had several owners, it was best remembered when Les Ingold operated it. Mr. Ingold was at the station when WWII broke out and left shortly after when he was drafted in February 1942. John Timoney (**) leased the station in April 1942 and operated it until Ingold returned from the war. Sometime in 1945 Mr. Timoney changed the station from a General Service station to a Chevron. After operating the station continuously for 15 years, Mr. Ingold sold it to Garland Brown in August 1960. Brown then sold it to Donald McAtee in August 1961. Sometime between August and the end of December 1961 Roy Waldt gained control of the station and operated it with his daughter Mrs. Conover. Marion White purchased the station from Roy Waldt and took over operation on November 1, 1963. The station closed sometime in the late 1960s. It was said that after the new highway was built it diverted traffic away from the station and it lost business.

(**) John Timoney at one time operated the Signal station, the Mobil station and was Mayor of Rainier in 1945 and 1946.
